Fake Degrees Online

If you’re looking for fake degrees online you’re in good company…

…depending, of course, on how you measure your company. If having a good job is it, well, you’re rubbing elbows with some pretty prestigious people.

Vince Gonzales, a CBS news correspondent, went looking for fake degrees online himself, to blow the whistle on top officials who pass them off as the real thing. He discovered people who hold fake degrees online, and also hold down jobs at the Pentagon, nuclear power plants, and various other federal agencies. Insiders expressed little surprise. Those who know how these things work know that those who purchase fake degrees online come from all walks of life.

For example, Charles Abell–an Assistant Secretary of Defense–and Deputy Assistant secretary, Patricia Wells–both hold degrees from universities which have since shut down for selling fake degrees online.

The Defense Intelligence Agency, the Transportation Security Administration, and the Department of the Treasury also had the dubious honor of listing among their employees those who had buffed up their resumes with fake diplomas. Perhaps most damning, a Florida State Representative who resigned from National Commission on Presidential Scholars in 2004 was found to have a diploma mill degree. Several years ago, someone with two fake degrees was found serving in the Department of Education.

It’s hard to take degrees seriously at all when those this high up are resorting to buying fake degrees online. Yes, there’s the scandal that attaches itself to them, but there’s also the question of how much diplomas really do matter in a practical sense if even Pentagon employees and Department of Education workers are depending on them. If you can get a job working for the National Commission on Presidential Scholars with a fake diploma, it’s hard to accept that it’s practical for employers to require a B.A. just to apply for a middle management job.
